Dr. Nanos began his career in international education as a guidance counselor in Athens, Greece prior to moving into school administration.  He received a fellowship from the Office of Overseas Schools, U.S. Department of State to complete his doctoral studies at the University of Houston in Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies.  While at the University of Houston, he served as Director of the Office of International Education.

Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Nanos served as Secondary School principal at the American School of Milan and he has previously served as Director of other American schools in Greece, Syria, Kuwait, and Taiwan. Dr. Roxanne Giampapa, our Coordinator of Curriculum and Studies, came to Pinewood after completing her Ph.D. in Educational Policy & Leadership from The Ohio State University. The focus of her dissertation research, international education in the context of Greece and the European Union, gives her an ideal framework from which to approach curriculum and school operations at Pinewood.

Dr. Giampapa’s background as a secondary teacher of history and English literature in the rigorous private, college-preparatory setting in the U.S. is beneficial in that she brings standards of teaching and learning for the Pinewood community of teachers and students that are exceptionally high, yet grounded in pragmatic implementation.
