Welcome

Welcome to Pinewood American International School!

We are a dynamic PreK-Grade 12 non-profit day & boarding school located in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Accredited in the United States by the Middle States Association (MSA) and supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Overseas Schools in Washington, DC, our school divisions include the Early Years Program (PreK-K), Elementary School (Grade 1-6), Middle School (Grades 7-8), and High School (Grade 9-12).

Founded in 1950, Pinewood offers a challenging U.S. standards-based, college-preparatory curriculum within the framework of the International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP, and DP and Advanced Placement AP offerings. The language of instruction is English at all levels.

Snapshot in Numbers This Year

540 Students welcomed

42 Nationalities represented in the student body

15 Nationalities represented among the faculty/staff

10 Months to complete construction of a modern, purpose-built Middle & High School on our new campus

2 Campuses in operation until we move fully to one beautiful, unified campus in Pylaia in September 2024 (Early Years & Elementary are already there)

I am excited to share that last year, Pinewood entered its new Middle States Association (MSA) accreditation cycle – 2023-2030. Notably, we are one of few international schools – by invitation only – to engage in the highly dynamic Sustaining Excellence protocol.  As such, we are proud to focus our schoolwide 7-year action research plan on relationships as a cornerstone of our teaching and learning practices.

Our whole community’s active involvement plays a significant role in this endeavor. Thus, we look forward to embarking on this year’s journey together as we work purposefully to build relationships that support the education of our students.

Warm wishes to all for a year of wisdom, strength, and humor.
