Pinewood International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarships 2012-13

Scholarships are available for incoming grade 11 (current grade 10) International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students. The selected IB scholars will receive a 100%, 50% or 30% tuition fee waiver for the duration of the two years of IB Diploma studies at Pinewood. All other fees such as activities fee, technology fee, transportation fee, IB registration and exam fees, and any fees associated with non-Pinewood coursework are not covered. Criteria for Eligibility

In order for a student to be considered for an IB scholarship at Pinewood–The American International School of Thessaloniki, the candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent academic performance
  • Proficiency and comfort using English in writing, listening and speaking
  • An interest in learning in a culturally diverse environment
  • Good citizenship and character
  • A desire to continue to Higher education in a North American, British, or other university abroad in which English is the language of instruction
  • Special interest or talent in an area outside of academics is highly desirable

Current grade 10 Pinewood students and prospective grade 10 students from other schools are invited to apply for the following scholarship opportunities:

IB Scholarships for grade 10 students currently enrolled at Pinewood

The following scholarships will be awarded:

  • Up to one full tuition scholarship 
  • Up to two 50% scholarships (three if no full scholarship awarded)
  • Up to three 30% scholarships (six if no 50% or full scholarships awarded)

Eligibility

In addition to the eligibility criteria described above, all interested students must demonstrate the following:

  • Current enrollment in grade 10 at Pinewood
  • All financial obligations to the school are met by the March 15 payment deadline

  • Submit two academic/personal recommendations

IB Scholarships for new incoming grade 11 students

The following scholarships will be awarded:

  • Up to one full tuition scholarship
  • Up to four 50% scholarships (five if no full scholarship awarded)

Eligibility

In addition to the eligibility criteria described above, all interested students must demonstrate the following:

  • Currently enrolled in grade 10 (or equivalent) in a High School in Greece or abroad

Application

All interested applicants must:

  • Complete the application form
  • Submit two academic/personal recommendations
  • Submit a minimum of two years of the previous years' school transcripts
  • Take an English Placement Exam at Pinewood–The American International School of Thessaloniki

Costas Yakoumis IB Scholarship for students from the larger Thessaloniki community

The Costas Yakoumis IB Scholarship seeks to honor and sustain the memory of a beloved member of the Pinewood school community by offering a two-year full tuition scholarship for a qualified incoming IB student (entering grade 11) from the larger Thessaloniki community.

Eligibility

In addition to the eligibility criteria described above, all interested students must demonstrate the following:

  • Currently enrolled in grade 10 (or equivalent) in a High School of the larger Thessaloniki area

Application

All interested applicants must: 

  • Complete the application form
  • Submit two academic/personal recommendations
  • Submit a minimum of two years of the previous years' school transcripts
  • Take an English Placement Exam at Pinewood–The American International School of Thessaloniki

For all scholarships, following initial screening, candidates will have a school interview with a committee of faculty and administrative representatives (IB Scholars selection committee). Final selection will be made by the IB Scholars selection committee.
