Student Council Elections
Student Council Elections at Pinewood American International School of Thessaloniki
Pinewood American International School of Thessaloniki is excited to announce the upcoming Middle/High Student Council elections, set to take place this Friday, October 4th. Students from grades 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to vote for their representatives, choosing two students from each grade to serve as class President and Vice President and two more for the positions of High School Student Council (HSSC) President and Vice President, resulting in a total of 14 members representing the student body (depending on the number of candidates running).
The Student Council plays a vital role in bridging the communication between students and faculty, fostering a positive school environment, and promoting student interests. Throughout the year, elected members will be working on various initiatives, including:
- Planning and Organizing School Events: From seasonal dances to charity drives, the Council will ensure students have opportunities to participate in fun and meaningful activities.
- Addressing Student Concerns: The Council will serve as a forum for students to voice their concerns on academic, extracurricular, or social matters, and work towards practical solutions.
- Promoting School Spirit and Unity: By initiating spirit weeks, friendly competitions, and inter-grade activities, the Council will strive to build a stronger sense of community at Pinewood.
In preparation for the election, all candidates will be given the opportunity to present their ideas through speeches during an assembly that will be held in the school gym on Thursday, October 3rd. This assembly will serve as a chance for candidates to communicate their vision and goals directly to their peers and encourage support for their candidacy.
With the new school year well underway, the elections represent an exciting opportunity for students to contribute to the growth and betterment of the Pinewood community.
This year's Student Council advisors will be Mrs. Helen Dalakas and Mr. Dimitris Charalampidis
