September 2024 Field Trips

Our Middle/High School overnight trips have concluded, leaving lasting impressions of cultural and historical learning.

Here are some of our student's experiences:

Grade 9

Our Grade 9 students had an unforgettable trip to Trikala, where they explored the majestic Meteora monasteries with their breathtaking views. They also visited the vibrant city of Trikala, the museum dedicated to the famous composer Tsitsanis, and the picturesque Lake Plastira. The students truly enjoyed the experience, creating lasting memories and forming new friendships along the way.

Grade 10

Grade 10 students had the opportunity to come together, unwind, and explore Ioannina, a modern city with a strong multicultural identity. In addition to the relaxing strolls through the charming, pedestrianized streets of the Capital of Epirus, our visit to the Wax Museum offered a unique portrayal of Greek history. Yet, the most memorable moment was standing at the heart of the third century BCE Theatre of Dodoni! This rapport-building trip concluded with a sensory-filled experience in the picturesque village of Metsovo.

Grade 11

We visited the monastery of Agios Nikolaos at Porto Lagos, the town of Xanthi, the town of Komotini, and the town of Kavala. The region has an interesting history of a Roman presence and Ottoman presence. For a short while the region was part of Bulgaria. There remains a Turkish and Muslim population so you can see mosques near Greek churches. The people coexist with their different faiths.

Grade 12

On a three-day field trip to Athens, we explored key historical and cultural landmarks. We visited the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis archaeological site, giving students insight into ancient Greek civilization and its architectural achievements. A visit to the zoological park allowed students to connect with biodiversity and environmental awareness. At the cultural center, including a library, students engaged with modern Greek culture and learning resources. An afternoon of free time gave them a chance to explore the vibrant city, enhancing their understanding of Athens' contemporary charm. This trip fostered both academic and personal growth, blending history, nature, and culture.
