The Pinewood Scholars Series II: Museums and Education, the Art of Sharing
Our second Pinewood Scholars Series was a wonderful oeuvre of innovation within the context of museums today. Four dynamic speakers, all distinguished members of our wider community, graciously shared their bold ideas centered around the importance of “Museums and Education” in our own lives, the lives of our students and the world around us, while illuminating for us the course of actions their respective museums are taking to best serve their young visitors.
Our distinguished conference speakers included Dr. Polyxeni Adam Veleni, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, Dr. Aggeliki Kottaridi, Director of the 17th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, Mr. Zisis Skambalis, Head of Directorate, Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia Thrace and Dr. Eurydice Georganteli, Lecturer on History of Art and Architecture and Medieval Studies, Harvard University,
On our part, Dr. Roxanne Giampapa, Pinewood President, pledged her commitment to see the Scholars Series continue to attract highly respected guests each year. As a member of the Scholars Series Committee and Pinewood’s art historian, Ms. Spiliakou, also pledged to enrich our student program with knowledge acquired by our speakers’ presentations each year.
