Young visual artists from Pinewood, The American International School of Thessaloniki are exhibiting artworks created during their International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course at the Cheap Art Pavilion in Helexpo. The artists have explored a variety of subjects and challenges in order to create multi-layered artworks experimenting with techniques of painting, sculpture, digital art, photography, printmaking and performance.
Over the course of two years, the student-artists have explored current socio-political subjects and ideas, including gender issues and inequality, female empowerment, racism, the blurred boundaries between the real and the unreal, as well as the importance of the natural world. As young adults moving into the real world and outside a protected school environment, they aim to raise awareness about important issues that they will likely face in their adult life and invoke the audience to contemplate their importance, too.
The exhibition’s Private Viewing is on Friday the 15th of March at 6pm at the Cheap Art Pavilion, generously sponsored by Helexpo. The artists will be presenting their work on that evening and will be available for an open conversation. The exhibition is curated by visual artist and art teacher, Konstantina Kapanidou. All are invited to attend.
