SAT

The SAT is a digital college admissions test designed to measure the reading, writing, and math knowledge and skills students develop in high school. For students who are considering universities that review standardized test scores, the SAT can be a valuable way to demonstrate academic readiness, better understand their strengths, and support their next steps in the college application process. The SAT is scored on a 400–1600 scale.
The SAT includes two sections—Reading & Writing and Math—and takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete. Each section is divided into two modules, and the test uses an adaptive format, meaning the second module is tailored based on a student’s performance in the first.
How Pinewood Prepares Students for Success
At Pinewood, we see the SAT as one possible part of a student’s broader college planning journey. It is not about taking every possible exam, but about making intentional choices based on each student’s goals, university pathway, and sense of readiness.
To support students in this process, Pinewood offers two after-school SAT preparation clubs: one focused on English preparation and the other on Math. These sessions are designed to help students strengthen core skills, build confidence, and become familiar with the structure and expectations of the exam. Students considering the SAT are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities.
Like any strong academic choice, SAT preparation is most effective when it is thoughtful, well-timed, and aligned with a student’s long-term goals.
