Middle School Curriculum
Our instructional design merges rigorous American standards with the concept-driven IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). The curriculum is designed for both breadth and depth: students explore big ideas across subject areas while diving deeply into each through inquiry, collaboration, and authentic real-world application. There are no high-stakes end-of-year final exams. Instead, learning is demonstrated through projects, investigations, performances, and portfolios that capture growth over time.
American Standards: A Strong Foundation for Skills-Development
Pinewood’s curriculum draws on established American standards to ensure clarity, rigor, and progression across core subjects. Most courses align with the AERO Standards, while Science follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), PE follows SHAPE America standards, the Arts follow the National Core Arts Standards, and Greek Language & Literature follows the national curriculum.
These standards provide clear learning benchmarks and skill progressions, ensuring that students develop the disciplinary foundations necessary for success beyond Middle School.
