Elementary Book Week 2023

Book Week is a celebration of reading and imagination , and it is a fantastic opportunity for all of us to enjoy the fun of reading.
During Book Weeks, we will have a range of events and activities, including:

READ-A-THON – A reading event where our Pinewood Elementary students commit to reading and reaching the goal of reading 1,500 books from Feb. 28 by May 30, 2023.

Bookmark Competition – A creative contest where Elementary Students design their own bookmarks. It is a fun way to encourage students to read and engage our creativity.

Book Reading Photo Competition – A contest where EY & Elementary Students and Families take a photo of themselves reading a book in a unique or interesting setting.

D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) – A time set aside during the school day where students and teachers stop what they are doing and read silently for 5 minutes.

Book Factory – A creative workshop where students can learn about the book-making process and create their own book.

Dress as your favorite book character – This is a fun activity where students dress up as their favorite book character.

Read Aloud Day – A day where Room Parents or Students read aloud to others.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss – An annual celebration of the life and work of children’s author Dr. Seuss. Let’s celebrate with funny games.

Books from around the world – Book talks, where students will introduce other students to foreign books and literature and provide them with an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions on the books they have read in their native language.
These are just a few of the exciting events and activities that we have planned for Book Weeks. We hope that these weeks will inspire everyone to develop a love of reading and appreciate the power of stories. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to celebrating Book Weeks.
