Grade 8 Photography Museum

Post

On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, Grade 8 – Host Country Studies Trip to the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography

The Photography Museum of Thessaloniki is a favorite meeting point for all those in love with art and photography, a place suitable for inspiration or discussion. It first opened its doors to the public in 1998 and the Museum is easily found in Warehouse A in the Harbor of Thessaloniki. The Museum’s mission is to plan and execute exhibitions, create archives and collections, publish books and organize educational programs for the public.

On the 5th of March, Pinewood’s Grade 8 students had a chance to attend one of their special Exhibitions titled “Capitalism Realism.” Guided by the Museum’s Director Mr. H. Papaioannou, we were exposed to the curatorial ideas behind the Exhibition and discussed issues like “Margaret Thatcher’s self-fufilling prophecy that “There Is No Alternative” which proved to be the most succinct slogan for the modern capitalist system one could ever imagine.”

It was a demanding experience we thoroughly enjoyed!
