Multinational Companies – An ESL Student Project

Our Middle School ESL students (levels 1 and 2) dealt with the following project in the past few weeks: They collected information about various well-known multinational companies. They found out who established them, when and where. They found out what these companies manufacture and in which countries they currently have a presence. Our students learned what a multinational company is and how it operates as well as how multinational companies approach new markets and what their impact is on developing countries and on the modern business environment. They studied the benefits and the problems of the continued development of MNCs.
Finally, as consumers, students became aware of the process through which various products reach our homes and what a difference consumers can make if they react against those MNCs that disregard environmental, labor and safety concerns.
