OUR NEW EY/ELEMENTARY BUILDING

LIGHTENING STUDENTS' FUTURE

Monday, September 12, 2022, is a historic day for Pinewood as the Pinewood’s EY/Elementary Division goes back home to its first building, a return to the Anatolia College campus where Pinewood was established in 1950.

PINEWOOD EY/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Elementary playground

PINEWOOD EY/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Early Year Playground

The Early year’s playground provides an environment that developmentally and physiologically aligns with the students. The materials and colors are natural so as to convey a warm, comfortable surrounding. At the same time, the space introduces the students to the Pinewood process of imagination, collaboration, and presentation.

SCHOOL LIVING SPACES

active SEATING - ERGONOMIC FURNITURE

Pinewood has developed all learning areas of the school in a functional and individualized way to create spaces that actively promote student development. The EY/Elementary School’s new classroom furniture offers diverse applications that can be adjusted to fit a wide variety of learning situations. Tables and chairs can be placed to one side and stacked to save space or can be swiftly reorganized and adjusted to allow students to work independently and collaboratively. Stackable chairs have row connectors that provide flexible seating, while the active sitting stools with a wide height adjustment range support seated and standing-height positions to keep students energized and productive all day. All desks have hanging hooks, wheels and drawers to give all classrooms enough storage space.

The HOKKKI STOOL

ACTIVE SEATING

As stated by company who created the active stool, VS, the Hokki stool is a fun way to encourage permanent changes of posture and resolves the contradiction between sitting and moving. As a result, sitting on the Hokki reduces strain on the musculoskeletal system, promotes motor development, and keeps attention focused on learning. This does the body and mind good in equal measure.

The model that we have purchased for both the Elementary and Secondary School has been awarded the AGR quality label for outstandingly back-friendly products by the Aktion Gesunder Rücken (AGR / Healthy Backs Campaign).

WATER STATIONS

PLASTIC FREE CAMPUS

Pinewood commits to measurably reduce plastic waste and pollution on campuses and the world around us. The school aims to do its best to eliminate plastic pollution and its toxic impacts on people and the environment.

  • Stations of filtered water have been installed in each floor so students can easily refill their bottles and drink directly from the station without the use of any glass/cup.
  • School will soon distribute resuable bottles to every student and teacher.
  • No single use water bottles sold in the canteen.
  • Discourage use of single-use plastics.

THE TENT ELEMENTS

COMMON AREAS

The Leaf element at the school entrance area is open and airy with a good view of the outside. It can work as a tent for students’ group work, as a tunnel for playing or just a space for peace and quiet. It arches over the soft floor mat, and is colorful, light and adjustable.

There are multiple areas in tent shape, with desk, spaces with power connection and benches outside the classrooms to allow students to use every corner in the campus.

ART & SPORTS

A ROOM FOR ALL EY/EL STUDENTS

The Indoor EY/Elementary Gym at the ground floor can be transformed to allow celebrations, gatherings, sports games and any kind of training for teachers and students. The art room located at the lower level with is new equipment it is a vital space that acts as the art studio for our little artists.
