OXI Day Celebration
Elementary School

October 28th, known as ‘OXI DAY’ commemorates the day that the Greeks stood up and loudly cried ‘OXI’ means ‘No’ to the Italian ultimatum to surrender. That ‘OXI’, was the beginning of Greek official involvement in the 2nd World War. October 28 is an official holiday celebrated throughout Greece. In Thessaloniki there is an additional celebration on October 26 when the city celebrates its patron saint St. Demetrios.

This year under the current circumstances we will pay tribute to this special day in a different way with each class separately.
