TOEFL & SAT Prep Classes Begin for Semester II

One of the most important components of the college application process is preparation for the TOEFL and SAT. Thus, we encourage all of our sophomores, juniors and seniors to take advantage of the following preparation courses at Pinewood that will begin again in February.

  • SAT Critical Reading Preparation Course:     Dr. Linda Manney
  • TOEFL Preparation Course:                         Mrs. Marianne Dundon

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by all universities in the United States, United Kingdom and around the world. The test is administered via the Internet in Greece and measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. The four areas of the test are Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. It is administered in various test centers in Thessaloniki approximately four times per month. All students whose native language is not English will be required to take the test in order to apply to any university.

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a test designed to assess students’ academic readiness for college. These exams provide a path to opportunities, financial support and scholarships and are required for many universities in the United States. The SAT I tests critical reading, mathematics and writing. The SAT IIs are a series of subject tests that assess knowledge in a range of subjects. The test is administered once per month in Greece in October, November, December, January, May and June. All students applying to university in the Unites States are required to take the SAT I and many top-ranking universities will also require several SAT II scores.
