Grade 7 Portraits in Visual Arts class
with Ms Kapanidou
Grade 7 students were introduced to the importance of self-awareness and self-mapping through a portraiture project in the Visual Arts class.
Students were taught how to draw the individual facial features and place them correctly on the head using the right proportions, they practised layering watercolor paints and made artistic choices while developing their work. Students planned their self-portraits in detail, and learned all about all the elements that a portrait can have in order to imply information about the personality and background of the person portrayed. As this was one of our first MYP units, all students reflected on their learning extensively, evaluated their newly learned skills and considered alternatives for their future artworks.
