The Mary Glyn Hick Library
The Mary Glyn Hick Library was renamed so in 2016, dedicated to Pinewood’s long-serving librarian.
Mrs. Hick served as the Pinewood Librarian from 1968 – 1994 where she used her degree in Library Science to build the Pinewood Library into “the largest library of any international school in Europe”, holding over 15,000 books.

The Mary Glyn Hick Library is located in the basement floor of our campus, along with the Art Room, Dance Studio, and the Student Services & Counseling offices.
Our library facilitates various functions and offers many services, including but not limited to:
- A large collection of books
- The ability to borrow books or read in our cozy library environment.
- Study halls
- Quiet place to study/read/think
- Teacher Workspace
- Library workshops
- Space for tutoring and supervised testing
The Mary Glyn Hick Library is the home of over 15,000 volumes for readers of all ages. Our main circulating collection is split into six sections: Fiction & Non-fiction (ages 11+), Junior Fiction & Junior Non-fiction (ages 6-12), Early Years (ages 5-), and ESL/Early Readers.
Each of these categories contains books in English, Greek, French, Russian, and more!
Our library also has a large reference collection, composed of Dictionaries (various language combinations) and Encyclopedias of varying topics and for different age groups.
The Mary Glyn Hick Library is in the process of developing its virtual material database. At the moment there are limited resources available in Anatomy & Physiology, but we are always looking for suggestions and donations to add to our collection.
Through our collaboration with Anatolia College, our IB students are able to access and borrow ACT’s library collection in addition to Pinewood’s resources.

All class sets are situated in the library. You may borrow as many copies as you would like for your classes, as long as you provide the librarian with a list of names ahead of time, so the books can be checked out and assigned to each student individually.
Please contact the librarian for more information.
Any textbook sets that are standard and given to students every year are also situated in the library, and you can lend them to students as long as you provide the librarian with a list of names ahead of time, so the books can be checked out and assigned to each student individually.
Teachers are welcome and encouraged to use the library space any time for individual work.
Donations to our library are always welcome and greatly appreciated!
In order to make a donation to the library, simply bring your items in a box or bag, and leave them at the front office, making sure to first inform Ms. Dimitra Tzimka that the donation is intended for the library. Please also mark your name on the container so we can thank you on our website, unless you wish to remain anonymous.
Whether you are a student, teacher, staff member, parent, or other member of the Pinewood community, our library can always benefit from your ideas and suggestions!
Please feel free to use the form below to give us your feedback on our services, organisation, space, web page, or any other component of our operation. You are also welcome to propose ideas about new services or additions to our collection.
