Pinewood at the Festival Paideias 2010 – June 5 and 6

The local newspaper Makedonia is organizing an information weekend on June 5 and 6 at the Vellideio Conference center, where issues related to education will be presented by prominent speakers, including the Minister of Education Mrs. Anna Diamantopoulou and. The program consists of four separate sessions, an exhibition and presentations throughout the two days.

Pinewood will have a booth in the exhibition (Booth no. 5, Saturday 11:00 – 21:00 and Sunday 10:30 – 17:30) and a presentation about the school and the IB Diploma Program on Saturday, June 5 at 17:00. An article about the IB Diploma Programme, written by Mr. Dimitrios Terzidis, our IB Coordinator has been published in the first issue of EDU.com, a new magazine for education-related issues that was distributed with the Makedonia newspaper two weeks ago and will be given to all visitors during the Festival this weekend.

The program for both days is shown below.  

Saturday, June 5

12:00 – 13:30 Session 1: The school of the future. Presentations and discussion about the use of information technology for educational purposes, and best practices related to the use of smartboards, e-learning systems and web 2.0 tools.  

17:00 – 17:45 Presentation. Program of Studies and the IB Diploma Programme at Pinewood – The American International School of Thessaloniki  

18:30 – 21:00 Session 2: The role of Thessaloniki as a University City of the Balkans. Guest speakers include: Hélène Ahrweiler (honorary president of Paris Sorbonne University), Prof. Dimitrios Nanopoulos (High Energy Physics at Texas A&M University), Mrs. Anna Diamantopoulou (Minister of Education, Greece), Mr. Andreas Dimitriou, Minister of Education, Cyprus).  

Sunday, June 6  

11:30 – 13:30 Higher education studies in Greece  

13:30 – 15:30 Higher education studies abroad or in International colleges in Greece
