JUNE AT PINEWOOD FIRST-AID MONTH

Post

JUNE - FIRST WEEK

TIP OF THE WEEK

Did you know… that when you get a nosebleed you should lean forward and breathe through your mouth as this will drain blood into your nose. Do not tilt your head back as it will drain blood down the back of your throat.

What else to do :

  • Firmly pinch the soft part of your nose above your nostrils
  • Place an ice pack on the bridge of your nose (the hard part of the nose)
  • Avoid sniffing or blowing your nose

Would you be able to help?

If there is an emergency like a road crash, a heart attack, an anaphylactic shock you could be the first player on the scene. The average response time for ambulances is 10 minutes so it is important that you know how to help.

Learning first aid is quick, fun and could be the difference between life and death for a loved one, or a stranger. First aid courses typically take between 3 to 6 hours – a one day investment that could save lives.

If you want to get an idea of what you would learn in a First Aid course, you could take a look at some free online courses like this one HERE. No online course can replace an in person training but it can prepare you for an in person course, or it can help you refresh your knowledge on First Aid gained by past courses.
